Delmarva Student Chapter of SHRM

The Delmarva Student Chapter of SHRM was developed in the spring of 2008 as a subsidiary organization established to serve as a networking and resource group for local students or budding "human resources" professionals.  Membership encompasses students primarily from Kent and Sussex counties in Delaware.  However, any student within 45 miles or so is welcome to join.  Membership currently consists of 20+ members.

Students are excited about their chapter and work towards careers in Human Resources.  Meetings are scheduled once a month based on the availability of student attendance.  The students are looking into developing virtual meetings saving travel time and adding the ability to coordinate school schedules.  Additionally, some students have already expressed an interest in becoming PHR certified and have formed a study/preparation group.  All students are welcome to participate.

The group utilizes speakers to present information on relevant topics of professional interest at least a few time s a year.  Additionally, students are afforded mentor and internship possibilities.

Social events are incorporated as well.  Student events have included a Holiday Social, a Chartering Ceremony, a Wine, Dine, and Act Fine, a Chinese cultural event, business tours, networking, free training, and a picnic.
